Alton Towers has unveiled its new ride dubbed the “first-of-its-kind” in the UK. Known as the Toxicator, the topspin ride will be open from March 15 at the theme park, giving thrillseekers excitedly awaiting the dizzying experience a lot to look forward to over the coming weeks.

The ride will accommodate more than 500 adrenaline junkies per hour, who will be seated back to back before being flipped around and held down, as they are left to face “alien acid” for a moment. Aptly positioned next to Nemesis Reborn in the heart of the Forbidden Valley, the ride towers at 78ft (with a 16ft elevated platform) - meaning it is the highest of its kind, according to Alton Towers.

The promise of it being “the only topspin ride in the world to be elevated above ground level” means spectators can catch a glimpse of the attraction as water fountains flanked by dramatically shoot up. The Toxicator has been billed as the “latest technology from the shadowy organisation known as The Phalanx … [used] to extract and separate toxic saliva from the Nemesis beast”.

Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort, Bianca Sammut, said: “We’re delighted to finally be able to take the wraps off The Curse at Alton Manor and welcome those brave enough to enter. We’ve harnessed the power of cutting-edge technology to provide a fully immersive experience that blurs the line between reality and Emily’s demonic world.

“Visitors will even seem to disappear in front of their very eyes as a result of a spine-chilling array of special effects and visuals that have never been seen before from a UK theme park. Child’s play, this isn’t. Emily is waiting … The question is, dare you experience what she has in store?”.

The ride charts the story of Victorian girl Emily Alton, whom many have for years bandied around the idea of haunting Alton Manor. The theme park has advised that tickets can now be booked for people to be amongst the first to submit to the experience.
