Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has admitted his father called him to say the win over Lille on Tuesday wasn’t “exciting”. The Reds sealed their progress to the Champions League round of 16 in March as Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott scored in a 2-1 victory for Liverpool against the French outfit.

Slot’s side sit top of the Champions League and Premier League tables after a remarkable first season under the Dutchman. Slot’s side will be strongly expected to pick up another big victory when Liverpool play Ipswich at home on Saturday but the Reds boss stresses his team won’t be taking any big risks, with the focus instead on control.
