Aussie tennis player Destanee Aiava has taken aim at Australia's United Cup culture, revealing aggressive and selfish behaviour from her teammates made her feel unwelcome in camp. The 24-year-old rising star posted a YouTube video titled 'my honest experience and review of the week I had' in which she described the mood in the team as 'weird and hostile'.

The side, which included the likes of Alex De Minaur, Matthew Ebden, Olivia Gadecki, Ellen Perez and captain Lleyton Hewitt, made the World No. 194 feel excluded - though she did not single anybody out personally. 'So far I've had a good time at the event itself,' she began the video.

'Regarding our team, yeah, it's not felt so welcoming.'. The Victorian used air quotes when mentioning the word 'team' during the video, explaining that her teammates only focused on themselves. Aussie tennis player Destanee Aiava has whacked Australia's United Cup culture.

The 24-year-old rising star says she didn't feel welcome while in camp with the likes of big names Lleyton Hewitt and Alex De Minaur. 'I understand that we're in a competitive environment, but I thought being in a team, playing a team event, it would feel a bit different,' Aiava said.

'It's not team-based at all, we pretty much just do whatever we want, by ourselves. 'And then, when everyone has to play, that's when we all come together as a "team".'. Aiava didn't get to play in any of the live matches, which she says made her feel left out.
