The Beaureau of Meteorology, Vicotrie has issued a severe weather warning to parts of the city with thunderstorms now sweeping their way through Melbourne, heading east towards the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges.

Thunder and lightning have rolled in too and the city skyline was engulfed in dark grey clouds earlier this afternoon.
