The world was left in shock when it was revealed that world-renowned DJ and producer Avicii had taken his own life while on holiday in Muscat, Oman, in 2018. In the time that followed, a tribute concert was organised in memorium, as well as the Stockholm Globe Arena being renamed Avicii Arena, and a museum about the late star being created.
The Levels maker's death has left a huge hole in the hearts of everyone who loved him, none more so than his loved ones. In a new documentary called Avicii: I'm Tim, which landed on Netflix today (Tuesday, 31st December), his friends and family opened up about his tragic demise.
His close friend Jesse Waits expressed: "I don't think anybody really know why or what happened, nobody really knows what was going through his mind, everybody can speculate. "He seemed good to everybody I talked to that were around him, he was in a good place. It's hard to accept.".
Jesse went on to reveal his regrets over his pal's death and wishes he could have been there to help him in that moment. He continued: "I know this is something that is inevitable, but if I was there I could have fixed it. "Whatever he was going through, I'd been like, 'F*****g shut the f**k up, f*****g put your shoes on, and let's go out f*****g outside for a walk.
"I'm sure everybody feels that they could have changed something, especially his family.". Avicii became famous in 2011 with his single Levels before releasing his first studio album, True, which blended electronic music with elements of multiple genres.
