A 13-year-old boy was fatally struck by the propellers of a speedboat after his own father hurled him into the sea during a trip to Thailand, it has been reported. Artem Bugorskiy has been arrested for the suspected murder of his son, Lucas, after throwing him in the water.

Dozens of tourists watched the horror unfold near the southern island of Phang Nga at around 4pm on Wednesday. The Russian national stood up and approached Lucas, who held dual Thai-Russian nationality, and threw him into the water, the Bangkok Post reported.

Local media reported that the 45-year-old had forcefully grabbed the boy with both his hands, shoving him onto the left side of the boat near the bow. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video.

Lucas had suffered multiple injuries to his head and face believed to have been caused by the boat’s propeller.

He was given first aid on the boat and was then transported to Kuraburi Chai Pattana Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. His father was arrested as soon as he returned to the pier and was later charged with the murder of the victim. So far, he denies all charges.
