Two Coronation Street icons secured their future on the show as they survived a recent cast shake-up. Amid ongoing cast reductions due to financial constraints, Corrie has secured the futures of two long-standing actors. Jack P. Shepherd, who portrays David Platt, and Antony Cotton, known for his role as Sean Tully, have both signed contracts ensuring their presence on the show through 2025.

This development comes as a relief to the show's producers, especially following the recent departures of several cast members. Notably, Sally Dynevor (Sally Metcalfe) and Michael Le Vell (Kevin Webster) have also renewed their contracts, committing to stay on the show.

In contrast, Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy Midgeley, has announced her decision to leave the series later this year, expressing a desire to pursue new opportunities. Other actors, including Colson Smith and Sue Cleaver, are also set to exit. The cast has expressed concerns over budget cuts, which have led to the cancellation of events like the Christmas party. Additionally, recent severe weather conditions have posed challenges to the production schedule, though filming has continued without major disruptions.

Regarding Jack, an Insider told The Sun: “Jack signed his most recent contract last year so will be around for some time. He is a fan favourite so they would be gutted if he goes and they will do what they can to keep him happy. Bosses are desperate to keep him as long as possible.”.

One notable departure from the show is Colson Smith, who appeared on Big Brother last year. On Monday night we saw Luca Toolan bow out as Mason Radcliffe in a devastating knife crime storyline. That same evening it was revealed by the Mirror that Craig Tinker actor Colson Smith had been axed from the show after 14 years, with Colson confirming he would be leaving the role.
