Coronation Street’s Luca Toolan lands new role with famous dad

Former Coronation Street star Luca Toolan has begun filming his new role alongside his famous dad, just weeks after his character Mason Radcliffe was killed off. Luca bowed out of his Mason Radcliffe role after just a year, in horrific scenes that saw him fatally stabbed by his brothers.

The youngster, was attacked by a zombie knife while protecting Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) who had intervened to help his former bully. After being rushed into hospital, hospital staff worked tirelessly to keep him alive, to no avail. The long-running plot kicked off when Mason manipulated Dylan into joining his gang so they could target Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall).

Over the course of many months, the teens were responsible for making Liam’s life hell, physically torturing him and sending vile messages online. The situation changed dramatically for Liam when he contemplated taking his own life. Liam couldn’t see a way out of the pain he was experiencing, and believed this was the only option.

Mason later spent time inside for knife crime, but upon his return we saw he had reformed. 21 year old Luca has now started filming his next project – a TV comedy pilot, which co-stars his real life famous dad, radio DJ Mike Toolan. Emmerdale star Sheree Murphy leads the cast, alongside Hollyoaks’ Kim Tiddy and G’Wed actor Zak Douglas.

A number of behind the scenes snaps have been shared by Mike, showing cast and crew gathering on a football pitch. ‘Day 2 on location for the pilot of “Grass Roots”!’ he wrote. ‘Writing and acting in this has been an absolute joy for @tamryan28 and I — big love to the amazing cast and crew who brought this world to life.
