Disney World fans were left furious after the theme park announced a major change was coming to some of its attractions, including a fan favorite. The company revealed this week that starting on February 25, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at Epcot and Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom will no longer be using the virtual queue system.

The virtual queue system sees guests who want to ride the attractions wake up at 7 in the morning on the day of their park visit and apply online for a 'boarding group.'. Then, when their group is called, they're allowed to get onto the line and ride the attraction.

The system certainly has its pluses and minuses. It helped control crowds for what are arguably their two most popular rides, but it also meant you could only go on the rides once per day, and if they filled up too quickly, you lost your chance to ride at all.

But starting next Tuesday, the stress of trying to snag a boarding group and discomfort of having to wake up early in the morning will be gone, and guests will be able to get line whenever they want and however many times they want. On first glance it may seem like good news, and while it was met with excitement from some, many avid theme park goers were less than impressed.

Positive messages like, 'Victory,' and, 'Huge W,' were shared on X, formerly Twitter, but others were quick to criticize Disney for the change. Disney World fans were left furious after the theme park announced a major change was coming to some of its attractions, including a fan favorite.

'Am I the only person dreading this on Cosmic Rewind? Lines will be astronomical,' one person wrote. 'only person benefiting from this is the person who wants to ride three plus times. VQ was a free skip the line.'. 'So how long before all the people in here excited for the no more VQ will be the first ones to complain that the standby lines are too long and Disney needs to do better about accommodating guests?' asked someone else.

'I'd really love for someone to explain to me how removing the GOTG virtual queue, which will double if not triple wait times, is a "win" for park goers,' another user added. 'Those wait times are gonna be insane for a long long time,' agreed a different fan.

'This is not the flex you think it is,' a fifth post read, while a sixth said, 'This is awful news.'. 'Hate it. Now will have to pay for it or stand in a longer line,' someone else scathed. For those who don't want to wait in the regular line, it's still possible to purchase Disney's skip the line service, called Lightning Lane... that is, as long as it doesn't sell out.

While it was met with excitement from some, many avid theme park goers were less than impressed. Lighting Lanes range in price depending on how busy the park is; for Cosmic Rewind it's $16-19, and for Tiana's Bayou Adventure, it will cost you $11–$25.

Disney received more scrutiny this week as it was announced that park ticket prices in the US will jump as demand rises under controversial new 'dynamic pricing' plan. Currently, entry to Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland near LA is priced based on pre-set peak and off-peak dates.
