It's a huge week in EastEnders next week, as the highly anticipated 40th anniversary live week is finally here and Jamie Borthwick, who plays Jay Brown, is opening up on one particular storyline. Fans will be treated to a one hour 40th anniversary special episode on Wednesday February 19th - followed by the live episode on Thursday 20th . During the live episode, viewers will find out the results of the public vote - whether Denise decides to pick Ravi or Jack .

Viewers have seen Denise's complicated love life over the years, and now Jamie is weighing in on who he thinks Denise should be with. “Jack!” he screams to us at the TV Choice Awards. “I don’t know why but I am just edging towards Jack.”. Last year, the hairdresser's marriage to Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) was thrown into chaos when she discovered his affair with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).

The fling ended but Denise has since kept Jack at bay and reignited her own passionate affair with Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), leaving her stuck between both men. Fans of the long-running soap will also be delighted to know that major storylines are brewing, particularly involving Jay Brown, played by Jamie. While Borthwick remains tight-lipped about his character's future, he teased the live episode by saying, "Every question will be answered." The live episode promises a reunion with some fan-favourite characters, including the explosive return of the Mitchell brothers, Phil and Grant together.

Phil's mental health continues to decline as Linda becomes increasingly worried that he's a danger to himself. Her fears are proved right after she finds devastating evidence at No. 55. Grant, Linda and Nigel desperately try to reach Phil to beg him not to harm himself, but when he's at rock bottom he believes there's no other way out. Can his family and friends find a way to reach him?. Jay also shares a poignant moment with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), with Borthwick describing it as "really lovely" and a "nice moment" between the two iconic characters.

Speaking of McFadden, Borthwick reflected on the incredible chemistry he shares with his longtime co-star, having filmed together for over 20 years. "I’ve been filming with Steve for 20 years, and every day you’re just like, ‘Jesus, it’s Phil Mitchell!’ I lived with him for 20 years. He is just a legend. He is the man! He is the governor.". As the 40th anniversary celebrations approach, it’s clear that EastEnders is set to deliver the kind of heart-stopping drama that has kept audiences glued to their screens for four decades.
