Emmerdale star Asan N'jie announced he's expecting his first child with partner, Kirsty. The 30-year-old actor first shared the news on his social media page at the end of January where he shared a picture of Kirsty cradling her baby bump in a tight white shirt and flowing skirt. She wore a sash that read 'Mummy to be' for the baby shower event at a cosy venue.
"Can’t wait to meet liccle baby boy!!" the Emmerdale star captioned the post along with a few heart emojis. On January 28, he returned to social media to post a picture that his girlfriend took while in the hospital bed. She was strapped up for a few tests while Asan sat by her side and leaned his head on her thigh.
He wrote: "Getting ready for the sleepless nights." Fans were quick to share their delight, with one excited user posting: "Ahhhhh I can’t wait for the baba to come," and another adding: "So exciting! Sending you so so much love." One commented: "Ah amazing! you guys will be brilliant! Sending lots of love from all of us.".
At the beginning of February, she took to her page to share a few snaps of the nursery the couple prepared for their baby. It is unknown when the two started dating but pictures of her started featuring on his social media since summer 2023. The soap actor, known for his portrayal of Ellis Chapman on the long-running soap, faced dismissal four years ago after a controversial altercation with Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at the 2019 TV Choice Awards. Footage from the night of the incident showed Asan in a confrontation, saying: "Do you think you are a f***ing big man? I'm going to f***ing kill you. I'm going to f*****g knife you.".
Asan expressed remorse for his actions, saying in a statement: "My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character. I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected, especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards. I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”.
An ITV spokesperson also addressed the incident, stating: "Emmerdale suspended Asan N'Jie pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel." The spokesperson continued: "ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.".
