A long-standing Spanish tradition for ringing in the new year has captured the attention of the TikTok generation - who believe it might be the key to a successful love life. Influencers are advising singletons to take part in a New Year's Eve tradition; eating 12 grapes for each of the 12 chimes of the clock at midnight, suggesting it's a 'hack' to help them find love.

As 2025 looms on the horizon, the video sharing platform has exploded with clips under the hashtag #grapetheory as Gen Z give the national tradition a makeover. In fact, people now suggest the only thing standing between them and true love is devouring the fruit when the clock strikes midnight on December 31.

In a now viral video, Izzy Dwyer, 19, takes a plastic ziplock bag filled with grapes out of and shoves them into her mouth as she laughs. 'I saw on TikTok that [eating the 12 grapes] it's meant to bring you luck in your love life and I did it with three friends,' she told the Metro.
