Singer Grimes has shared an emotional public response to learning her eldest son has been attending political events with his father Elon Musk. The 36-year-old Canadian artist - real name Claire Elise Boucher - shares three children with her ex Musk; X Æ A-12, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk and Techno Mechanicus, known as Tau. In addition to the three children he shares with Grimes, Musk, 53, is also father to at least nine other children.
But X, the oldest of the three children he shares with Grimes, is the most pictured of the South African's offspring - something his ex Grimes is actively trying to avoid. Writing on Twitter (X) on Wednesday, Grimes admitted she wasn't aware he son had attended the White House earlier in the week and doesn't approve of the decision to put X in front of the cameras. "Lil X was very polite today! You raised him well. He was so cute when he told DJT 'please forgive me, I need to pee'," a Twitter (X) user wrote to Grimes. On Tuesday, Musk paraded the four-year-old around the White House as he visited to witness President Donald Trump signing an executive order about his role as Department of Government Efficiency co-lead.
Grimes, who tries to protect her son's identity and keep his life private, replied to the fan saying: "He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I'm glad he was polite. Sigh." Grimes has previously stated she doesn't approve of her son being paraded "around like Michael Jackson’s Chimpanzee". She told a fan accusing Musk of that in January: "I have made it clear I do not approve of that in every conceivable way I know how. I am desperate to solve it. It is a personal tragedy to me. But currently I don't know how to do that.".
Last year, Grimes re-posted a plea written by her mother for Elon Musk to allow the pair's children to visit their dying 93 year old great-grandmother. In a thread shared on Twitter (X) in July, Grimes' mother Sandy Garossino begged the multi-billionaire to let her grandchildren see her mother who is under palliative care, as her mother "yearns to see and hold Claire’s children one last time.". She claimed they were meant to visit for her birthday but "those hopes were crushed when the trip was cancelled." She added: "I am alarmed to learn that the children cannot come as you are withholding them and their needed passport documents from Claire. It was even more troubling to see you and X on television at the Olympics in Paris yesterday, after your DC trip earlier in the week. ".
She continued: "Where are the other children, and with whom? They are scheduled to be with their mother. They were expected here in Canada. I write with a grandmother’s plea, asking you to honour your agreement, return the children, and provide the documents they need to see their great grandmother before she passes.". Sandy continued: "Some moments in life last forever, and we get no second chances. Family is priceless. Please Elon, I beg you. This is so painful for my mother, and concerning for the kids. Time is of the essence now.".
