The 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards are set to take place on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 PM GMT and will be broadcast live on BBC One. For those who wish to stream the event, it will also be available on BBC iPlayer. The BAFTAs are a major event in the film industry, celebrating the best in British and international filmmaking, and this year’s ceremony is expected to attract significant attention.

The 2025 nominations have already been announced, with several films leading the pack. Conclave, a thriller based on the Robert Harris novel, is the front-runner with 12 nominations. It is followed closely by Emilia Pérez, a musical crime film, which has received 11 nominations. Another contender is The Brutalist, which has earned nine nominations. These films are among the most discussed ahead of the ceremony, with anticipation growing over which will take home the coveted awards. Other notable films nominated for Best Film include Wicked, Dune: Part Two and Anora.

The BAFTA Film Awards recognise achievements in several categories, including Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay, among others. David Tennant will return as the host for the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards. This marks his second consecutive year as the ceremony’s presenter. The Doctor Who actor is looking forward to returning to the Bafta stage. “It’s a lark! The night went past in a bit of a blur last year, but it was so much fun,” he says. “It feels like a real privilege to be part of it, and to get another crack at something so exciting is a real joy.

“I also didn’t want anyone to think I hadn’t been asked back, so I thought I’d better say yes! Luckily this is not what I do for my day job – if it all goes wrong I’ll just go back to pretending to be other people.”. The awards ceremony will feature various performances, including musical appearances from Take That and Jeff Goldblum. Take That will perform their hit song Greatest Day, which was featured in the BAFTA-nominated film Anora. Jeff Goldblum will play the piano during the “In Memoriam” segment, honouring those in the film industry who have passed away in the previous year.

The ceremony will be attended by many high-profile guests, including the nominees, presenters, and other influential figures in the entertainment world. Prince William, the President of the BAFTAs, and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, will not be attending this year’s BAFTA Film Awards. In 2021, William missed the ceremony due to the death of his grandfather, Prince Philip, and in 2022, the couple was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts.
