A Canadian expat living in Australia couldn't contain his excitement when he discovered breakfast for just $2 at IKEA. Josiah Hein, who lives in Queensland, and his wife Jess treated themselves to the affordable hot breakfast when they visited the Slacks Creek location this week. The school teacher was so impressed with the price that he opted for two servings of the small breakfast option, each consisting of two pork sausages, scrambled eggs and baked beans.

'In Australia, you can get a dollar breakfast at IKEA  - that's taxes included. So it's not $2.30, it's just straight up $2,' Josiah said ecstatically in his video. Standing in front of the in-store restaurant, he read out the breakfast options from a giant menu. 'We got a $5 medium breakfast, a $2 small breakfast or a $3 cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun.'. The video shows Josiah and his wife Jess tucking into their breakfast spread.

'This is my $2 breakfast - scrambled eggs, beans and a couple of snags that the Aussies say... Sausages baby,' he said. Josiah Hein and wife Jess treated themselves to the affordable breakfast menu items at IKEA. 'Jess went for the $5 one, the big dog... 'How's the hashy?'' he asked, to which she responded, delightedly: 'Good.'. The large breakfast option, which cost just $5, included two poke sausages, two bacon rashers, a hash brown, scrambled eggs, tomato, mushrooms and baked beans.

Laughing as Josiah explained his dishes, 'I actually went for a lazy double up'. He opted for two plates of the small breakfast, along with two hash browns on the side. The deal, available every day until 11am, is offered to IKEA Family members, which is free to join for anyone. However, not all IKEA locations offer the $2 breakfast, with most stores across Australia selling the small serving for $4 and the large for $10.

The school teacher was so impressed with the price that he opted for two servings of the small breakfast option, each consisting of two pork sausages, scrambled eggs and baked beans. Josiah's video has been viewed more than 360,000 times across his social media platforms, with many saying they couldn't believe the extremely low price, given the current cost of living. 'So you are telling me all this time when I was living five minutes away from IKEA, I could get $2 breakfast?' one said.

'I've lived in Australia for 12 years and didn't know this,' another revealed. 'Damn I didn't know IKEA did breaky meals. I'll definitely head down there. Thanks for letting us know,' one shared. 'Wow. I've just checked their menu in Perth and the prices are $4, $7 and $10. I'm living in the wrong state,' another added. Many revealed they had no idea the cheap breakfast menus were 'even a thing in Australia'.
