JELLY has wobbled back on the menu as the year’s surprise hit dessert. The colourful puddings have made a big comeback thanks to Generation Z, with recipes going viral online in 2024. One Instagram account, Adventures in Jelly, has racked up more than 60,000 followers.

Supermarkets have had a surge in shoppers buying jelly cubes, while one vintage supplier said it enjoyed a 500 per cent increase in sales of jelly moulds last month. And the trend has even reached Michelin-starred restaurants. Jelly artist Sienna Murdoch pegged the trembling revival on jelly’s “cheap and playful” nature.
She added: “Retro always comes back around. Like bell-bottoms and the colour brown. Now it’s jelly time. The classic favourite has been revamped for modern times, including innovations such as savoury flavours and making them bite-sized to be put in cocktails.
