Getting a tattoo can be a nerve wracking experience. Because of this, tattoo artists usually like to give their clients as much information as possible before the appointments so they know what to expect. But things can still go wrong, for both the client and artist. Because of this, one Brighton-based tattoo artist named Tamsin went online to share her main reasons why she would cancel a client's tattoo appointment.
The first thing she said would cause her to cancel a client's tattoo appointment would be if the client shows up with a sun burn on the skin area where they want the inking to be. "I can't tattoo over it, won't tattoo over it. I will send you home, you will lose your deposit because I make it very clear that you can't come in that way," she said before explaining the skin would be too sore to ink, meaning it'd be even more painful for the client.
It also won't heal as well as it should, and will also make it harder for the tattoo artist to do their job as the skin is too red to properly see the stencil and where to do the lines and the shading, she explained to her TikTok followers. "It's an absolute no no," she said.
The second reason also has to do with your skin, as she would refuse to tattoo over any active acne or eczema on your skin where you want the design. "I can't tattoo over it, it won't heal well, it won't heal at all. It just won't be in your skin," she explained. "It's not doable, so if you are not willing to get your tattoo in a different placement, you can't get a tattoo at all.".
