Every mum knows the struggle of balancing parenting, work and household duties – it's like a circus act with too many plates spinning at once. Even with a partner to share the load, looking after the little ones often means house cleaning gets bumped down the to-do list. One anxious mum has voiced her worries about her in-laws' impending visit, confessing she's 'embarrassed' by her less-than-spotless home, which doesn't match up to her mother-in-law's standards.

She reveals her place is quite 'cluttered' and the carpets are tainted with the smell of urine from her children's potty-training mishaps, leaving her fretting over what her in-laws might think. Seeking guidance on the popular forum Mumsnet, the anonymous mum is torn between making an extra effort to spruce up her home or letting her in-laws see the real deal of living with a young child and a baby.

The stressed mum shared: "My inlaws live in a different part of the country now and are coming to stay near us for the first time next week. Sounds terrible but I'm just so pleased we don't have enough space for them to actually stay in our house. "However, they will still be spending a lot of time with us in our home which is nice but do I make a special effort to clean and present the house better or should they just take us as they find us? ".
