ITV soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been affected by schedule changes in recent weeks, leaving fans wondering when they can watch their favourite soaps. Viewers will be pleased to know that both soaps are back in their usual slots tonight, with Emmerdale airing on ITV1 at 7.30pm, followed by Corrie at 8pm. However, tomorrow night will see Emmerdale air at the earlier time of 7pm, due to coverage of an FA Cup football match between Exeter City and Nottingham Forest beginning at 7.30pm, ahead of an 8pm kick off.

Things are back to normal for both soaps on Wednesday, but Thursday will see Emmerdale take the earlier slot of 7pm again for it’s hour-long instalment. Meanwhile, on the cobbles, Carla Connor (Alison King) is anxiously awaiting test results that will reveal whether or not brother Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) is a match for her kidney transplant. Elsewhere, the investigation surrounding the fire at the Platt’s takes an unexpected turn, and newcomers Lou and Mick Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty and Joe Layton) hit the street with a bang. As Mason Radcliffe is laid to rest, Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) gets the results of his cancer tests.

Both soaps are set to face huge changes next year, as they swap to different slots on ITV. Cutting out one episode per week, both soaps will air half an hour episodes from Monday to Friday, with Emmerdale set to air at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm. The decision to make these changes came after audience research into viewing patterns, and are set to form what ITV bosses are calling a ‘soap power hour’.
