Los Angeles police have arrested a burglar who was dressed up as a firefighter. Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed 29 people had been arrested, with many taken in for looting in the fire-swept region. One suspect is believed to have been dressed as a firefighter and was caught burglarising a home. Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell said of the man dressed as a firefighter: "We have people who will go to all ends to do what they do.".

The unnamed man has since been apprehended after police found him in a home wearing a firefighters jacket and helmet. Further members of the public have been arrested in similar situations across last week and this week. One man, who was driving a truck, was arrested in the Palisades area, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and LAPD said. Other suspects were found inside the vehicle. The men pretended to be associated with a fire station but a quick check with the fire department proved that not to be the case, officials said.

Sheriff Robert Luna said those arrested were not from the area and that some had firearms and drugs. Curfew remains in place for parts of Los Angeles affected by the fires, with fire zones seeing the National Guard and police patrol these areas. At least 10 people have been killed in the fires so far, while Californians have been urged to get out of the area as quickly as they can, the Mirror previously reported.
