Manchester United's four-man shortlist as they chase a new striker has come to light. The Red Devils are desperate for new signings amid a dreadful season that has left them 13th in the Premier League. Hopes of qualifying for European football through the league are now all but over.
It has been a tough start for boss Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag as manager in November. The 39-year-old has made it clear he does not believe United's squad is good enough to compete. A major overhaul is expected over upcoming transfer windows. High up on Amorim's shopping list is a new striker, with his side having scored just 27 goals in the top-flight this season, worse than even relegation-battling Wolves.
With that in mind, the Daily Mail have claimed that Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha of Wolves, Ipswich centre-forward Liam Delap and Lille's Jonathan David are the four men on Amorim's shortlist. The quartet are all being tracked by United scouts, having caught the eye of the Red Devils. A move for Mbeumo would be particularly difficult, with Brentford boss Thomas Frank having already made it clear he does not want to sell his star striker this month.
Another potential hold-up is the fact United need to make at least one significant sale before they can buy. Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo arre all seen as potential assets to be moved on. HAVE YOUR SAY! Who should be Manchester United's top striker target this month? Comment below.
