TV personality Michael Barrymore has been slammed for posting a TikTok video talking about children smoking. Michael Barrymore, real name Michael Parker, who gained notoriety in the 80s thanks to the game show Strike It Lucky, regularly shared videos on social media with his 3.5 million followers. But this time, some fear he's missed the mark.
In a video captioned "There is hope," he posted a short clip of himself walking through a park, grinning at people he passed. Over the top of the video, he wrote: "Just saw a group of kids in the park smoking instead of vaping. The world is healing". Some laughed at the comment and insisted "he's joking". Another sarcastically wrote: "It’s heartwarming isn’t it? The nostalgia." Others said that the post "cracked them up," saying that smoking cigarettes was like "the good old days".
Another responder wrote: ""I’m surprised you actually saw kids out in the park... that’s rare nowadays 'cause they're usually indoors glued to their consoles!" And a third added: "Ahhh, gone are the days you could get 10 Mayfair for £1.50. They've probably sold their iPhones to pool their money for a packet".
However, others weren't impressed by the message. One comment, which garnered hundreds of likes, read: "Babe, no. Wrong message". Meanwhile, others took the opportunity to slam any smoking as a "dirty habit". It's not Michael's only video to go viral recently. The fallen TV presenter, 72, has been raking up thousands of views and followers on TikTok, where he recreated viral videos and shares glimpses into his own life – even poking fun at his downfall in the showbiz world.
While Michael's TikTok videos see him recreate viral videos, he also shares glimpses into his everyday life which see him going on walks, sharing life advice, and reacting to trending stories. Millions of people used to watch his Saturday night shows – until one fateful night in 2001. A party at his ansion went tragically wrong. Stuart Lubbock was tragically found dead in the swimming pool of Michael's £2million home in Roydon, Essex.
