The trail stems back to his arrest in 2023 following allegations he put his wife, Rebecca Ludlam, in a headlock and he faced two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of assault and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.
Another argument said to have taken place in May 2022 involved Ludlam being grabbed "so forcefully that [Hanson] left a red mark on her shoulder" - with the argument alleged to have been over a kitchen design.
Following an alleged incident in May 2023, Ludlam is said to have told her husband: "I shouldn't be scared of my husband, they are meant to protect you, not hurt you.".
Reports emerged to reveal defence barrister, Sasha Wass KC, representing Hanson had become stuck on a train between London and Derby - where the trial is taking place.
The court also heard that Ludlam "reached the stage where she felt she had to leave" her husband in 2023, before they engaged the help of a marriage counsellor.
