Model's $6,300 designer dress slammed over 'nightmare' detail

A model's post has gone viral for a rather unexpected reason after she shared several photos of herself trying on a 'beautiful' gown. Cartia Mallan, who is originally from Australia but now lives in London, took to Instagram on Wednesday with three images of the floor-length dress, which was designed by a brand called DI PETSA.

Maxi dresses of similar designs by the label retail for more than $6,300. The first picture showed Cartia admiring herself in a huge mirror as she flashed plenty of flesh in the backless garment, which featured a halter-neck design and a short train. The brunette captioned the post: 'Fashion week fitting begin, feeling like a mermaid princess @dipetsa.'.

As she posed to the side and the gown hugged her derrière and flaunted a hint of side boob, many of her followers were quick to comment on the post - but some people were very much distracted by the reddish pink tinge on the lower part of the white dress.

One person joked, 'Me on the first day of my period,' and a second said: 'It's giving period chic.'. A third rather blunt Instagram user wrote, 'it looks like your period has spread,' and a fourth declared it a 'period nightmare.'. The brunette was trying on a floor-length white gown that featured a reddish pink tinge on the skirt. Instagram users were quick to comment and several made mnstruation references. 'It's giving "hey girl can you check me,"' someone else mocked, while another added: 'Me when I have a leak.'.

Other users joked about offering up a tampon or sanitary pad, as someone else genuinely asked: 'Is it supposed to be a period reference?'. However, others were much more complimentary as one said: 'Goddess period vibes though and I love it. It's art.'. 'Free bleeding aesthetic,' another declared, while a different follower branded the dress: 'So so beautiful.'.

'This dress is incredible I feel like the period stain look is no accident and that makes it feel so feminine and powerful,' someone else commented. Another posted: 'The period comments on this post are not it!! This is stunninggggg.'. 'She's ethereal, she's beautiful,' a different follower complimented her.

One more person described Cartia as a 'menstruation goddess,' in the comments section. One social media user described the floaty garment as a 'period nightmare' while others said it was 'beautiful' and 'stunning'. Cartia has 486,000 followers on Instagram and 172,000 on TikTok.

Cartia also posted the photos on her TikTok page alongside a caption which read: 'Mermaid energy.'. However, the dress didn't garner such cruel comparisons over on TikTok. 'This was made for you,' one person told her, while another said: 'Omg wow.'. One other TikTok user branded Cartia 'a real life angel.'.
