Netflix is making sure that next week is huge for fans of thrillers and are waiting to see the 'new John Wick'. The streaming giant is constantly adding new titles to its vast library, including original productions and licensed films and TV series, making it hard to keep up. The final days of February will see exclusive additions like the sitcom Running Point and the romance film A Copenhagen Love Story.

But if you're a fan of thrillers or anything that echoes the Keanu Reeves-led John Wick films, then you're in luck. Netflix is set to add three films over the coming days that should top your watchlist. Here's what you need to know. Escape From Pretoria will kick off the week as the first major thriller addition. Based on a true story, it follows the prison escape of three political prisoners in South Africa in 1979.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe plays Tim Jenkin, who penned the book about the ordeal after being arrested and jailed for protesting against apartheid. The film was initially released in cinemas in 2020 but may have slipped under the radar as it premiered just before COVID lockdowns in the UK, reports Surrey Live.

Escape from Pretoria has garnered a respectable 73% score on Rotten Tomatoes, where one viewer exclaimed it left them "in need of a lie down. Intense suspenseful edge of your seat thriller." Another fan was quick to sing its praises, saying: "I place this title right next to my favourite Shawshank Redemption. Radcliff and the two other escapees show so much intensity I was worried that the actors will get a heart attack. Either them or me.".

Escape from Pretoria is on Netflix starting February 26. Demon City has already crept onto many watchlists following Netflix's tantalising teasers. A gritty live-action adaptation of the beloved comic book series Oni Goroshi, which captured audiences from 2020 until its climax in November 2024, is set in the stark provincial city of Shinjo and spins a tale of revenge soaked in tragedy.

Life deals an assassin a cruel hand when his wife and daughter are slain by the sinister Kimen-gumi, a shadowy ring of masked villains who not only murder his loved ones but frame him, shredding his good name. After surviving a shot to the brain and waking from a 12-year coma, he finds himself in the crosshairs of Kimen-gumi once more, igniting his vendetta fuelled journey.

Earlier this month, a pulse-racing trailer was unveiled and the anticipation is almost at its peak. Fans were quick to draw comparisons as one labelled it the 'new John Wick' and others put it side by side with other legendary revenge thrillers. One viewer described it as "Old Boy meets The Crow", while another likened it to Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill. Regardless, it's shaping up to be an unmissable watch this week.

Demon City will be available on Netflix from February 27. To round off the month in grand style, Netflix is introducing the French action thriller Squad 36. Based on the initial glimpse provided by the streaming giant, this one's for those who relished The Recruit and The Night Agent earlier in the month.

Set in contemporary Paris, Antoine Cerda, a high-ranking police officer with the esteemed Investigation and Intervention Brigade, is reassigned to the Anti-Crime Brigade following sanctions from the General Inspectorate of the French National Police. He subsequently turns his back on his former colleagues and unit, headed by the charismatic Sami Belkaïm. However, just over a year later, two officers from his old squad are murdered within 24 hours.

When a third mysteriously disappears, Cerda takes it upon himself to conduct his own investigation. His probe uncovers a fierce police rivalry and sends him spiralling down a dark path. Squad 36 is streaming on Netflix from February 28. Obsessed with Netflix? Get the latest headlines, releases and insider-gossip direct to your inbox with our Binge-worthy newsletter.
