Robert De Niro's thrilling series Zero Day has arrived on Netflix, and fans are already engrossed. The plot revolves around De Niro's character, former US President George Mullen, who steps back into the spotlight to serve his country once more as he probes a lethal cyberattack while grappling with personal issues.

The six-part limited series boasts an impressive cast including Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan, Connie Britton, Joan Allen, Matthew Modine, and Angela Bassett. Many viewers are curious about actor Plemons, 36, who plays Roger Carlson, the ex-President's trusted aide and current fixer for Mullen.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Plemons gradually carved out a successful acting career, with his big break coming in NBC's Friday Night Lights. He has since consistently transformed himself for various roles in shows like Fargo, Black Mirror, and Breaking Bad.

On the silver screen, he's been seen in The Master, Bridge of Spies, The Irishman, Killers of the Flower Moon (alongside De Niro), and The Power of the Dog. Plemons is married to fellow actor Kirsten Dunst. They began dating while working on the second season of Fargo, got engaged in 2016, and tied the knot in July 2022. The couple have two sons, Ennis and James, born in 2018 and 2021 respectively, reports the Mirror US.

Dunst, 42, and Plemons have shared screen space three times, including in Fargo, Power of the Dog, and Civil War. She also had a fleeting, easy-to-miss cameo in Black Mirror's USS Callister, which featured Plemons in a leading role. He previously commented on his marriage to the iconic star of Interview with the Vampire and The Virgin Suicides, saying: "It's funny. I wasn't sure how different [marriage] was gonna feel because we've been together for a while and, two kids later, it's pretty solid, you know?".

Plemons shared with People that setting aside time to celebrate their bond was "really nice", confessing that post-nuptials, he found himself feeling "different in a good way". Viewers might have also observed Plemons' significant transformation as he now appears far more chiselled in newer parts such as Zero Day. The actor has fluctuated in weight for various roles, bulking up for his 2015 performance as mobster Kevin Weeks in Black Mass and carrying that build into his Fargo appearance before losing some.

In 2016, he reported to GQ: "I had lost a little bit of weight at the Fargo premiere, and I remember this guy asking, like, 'What's your secret to losing the weight? Tell us!'" and he replied jokingly, "I was like, 'Well, I was eating everything, and then I just stopped eating terrible food.' It's not too complicated.".

More recently, Plemons discussed his weight journey again with The Los Angeles Times, explaining: "Several people talked to me about intermittent fasting and I just gave it a shot.". The star admitted he was "surprised at how quickly it was effective" and humorously remarked that his timing for getting healthy was off. He told the outlet: "It's really unfortunate that I decided to get healthy when everyone decided to take Ozempic.".
