A Parliamentary employee was fired after dressing as disgraced TV presenter Jimmy Savile and having sex with a blow-up doll, according to a former Chief Whip. Simon Hart, who served in the role under Rishi Sunak between October 2022 and last year’s election in July, has published entries from his diary in the Times.

They include behind-the-scenes insights into handling the more unusual requests of Conservative MPs and the prime minister. But it’s one entry in particular that has raised eyebrows on social media. On Halloween 2023, Hart wrote: ‘Among today’s HR joys is the report that a departmental Spad went to an orgy over the weekend and ended up taking a crap on another person’s head.

‘To make matters worse, in a separate incident a House employee went to a party dressed as Jimmy Savile and ended up having sex with a blow-up doll, for which he has been subsequently dismissed. ‘Just another day at the office, I guess.’. A ‘Spad’ is Westminster slang for a special advisor, who work closely with top figures in government.

No further information about the individual referenced in the diary entry has yet emerged – or who they worked for. The extracts also reference an incident from November 2022, in which an MP called at 2.45am to say he was ‘in a room with 12 naked women and a CCTV’ at a brothel in Bayswater, west London.

Hart, who also served as Welsh Secretary under Boris Johnson, lost his Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire seat at the last election. The diary entries have been released ahead of the publication of his book Ungovernable, described as the ‘first insider account of life as a chief whip’.

Chief whip is the title given to the government figure responsible for keeping MPs in check and ensuring they stick to the official party line on big issues. On top of that, they are typically expected to stay on top of any potential scandals and keep them from emerging into the public.

The current chief whip is long-serving Labour MP Sir Alan Campbell. Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@metro.co.uk. For more stories like this, check our news page. Arrow MORE: Online knife sellers offering ‘mystery boxes’ to customers with blade lucky dip.
