We're just six plays into Super Bowl LIX and already the Kansas City Chiefs 'colluding with referees' allegations are in full effect. The Philadelphia Eagles got the ball first, but were faced with a 4th and 2 from the 50 yard line. Rather than try to just gain the two yards, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts decided to air out a long pass for receiver AJ Brown - who caught it in stride then stepped out of bounds.
However, referees threw a flag and decided to call offensive pass interference on Brown for his contact with defender Trent McDuffie. On replay, it appeared that Brown briefly made contact with McDuffie's facemask and the cornerback stumbled as a result. But the contact was not a shove - nor was it an intentional grabbing of the mask - leading many to resort to the same narrative that has been dogging the Chiefs all season long: that the referees are conspiring to rig the games in their favor.
