A pregnant woman in Florida was stabbed 14 times by a pizza delivery driver who was said to be disgruntled over a $2 (£1.60) tip. The delivery driver, 22-year-old Brianna Alvelo, has been charged with stabbing the woman after she had “became upset about the tip she received.”.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, police rushed to the scene of a reported home invasion and stabbing days before Christmas, where they found a victim with multiple stab wounds. Reports reveal that the stabbing was tied to a previous pizza order and tipping situation.
According to local authorities, the woman, her boyfriend and her five-year-old daughter were staying at the Kissimmee Hotel to celebrate a birthday when they ordered pizza. Alvelo delivered the $33 pizza but didn’t have any change when the victim gave her a $50 bill. The affidavit claims the woman searched for smaller change before eventually giving Alvelo a $2 tip.
The delivery woman apparently "rolled her eyes and walked away without saying anything," according to a witness statement. Later that evening, Alvelo returned to the motel with an unidentified man armed with a firearm and the pair forced their way into the room and began attacking the victim.
Following the incident, Florida police launched an investigation, which led them to Alvelo, who had reportedly become upset after receiving the tip. The attackers also rummaged through the victim’s belongings and broke personal items before fleeing the scene.
