Reacher's back, and this time he's bracing for his toughest challenge yet in the much awaited third season which drops this week. Alan Ritchson is reprising his role as the formidable wanderer and former Military Policeman, Jack Reacher, who finds himself partnering with the DEA to locate a missing agent.

He gets more than he bargained for when his undercover probe into suspected drug smuggler Zachary Beck (Anthony Michael Hall) dredges up a sinister ghost from his past. In an exclusive interview with Screen Time, Lee Child, the brains behind the original Reacher novel series, expressed his continued support for casting Ritchson, with plans in store for him to don the Reacher mantle once again in season four.

"If somebody asked me, 'What am I happiest about?' it is that casting decision," Child admitted. "We knew it was critical, obviously. The title of the show is Reacher. It's all about him, he carries it. "He carries it on the screen but he also carries it off the screen because what people don't see is that the lead actor sets the tone, he sets the bar for the rest of the cast and crew", reports the Express.

Ritchson isn't just nailing the heroic image; he's entrenched in one of TV's most gruelling roles, undertaking heavy-duty training in order to keep fit and ace the demanding stunts required by the series. The anticipation for season three of Reacher has never been higher, especially since it's set to feature a clash of titans with Reacher facing off against Beck's towering bodyguard, Paulie (Olivier Richters).

"Alan is super hard-working and very professional," Child praised. "It's a brutal process, the fight scenes he has to do are agonising, painful. "And he takes it all on the chin and that then means the rest of the cast have to live up to that. "It's like an on-field captain role that he does really well, no one sees that but it's super important.".

While the epic showdown may still be a bit down the line, Richters himself has hinted at a monumental battle in the latest instalment of Reacher. "Well, people have seen the trailer and read the book, but I can say this..." he teased. "It's a build-up between the two characters and we know something big is going to happen, for sure.

"Let me say this, I had four months of stunt training and it has to be used.". Fans won't have to wait too long to get their next fix of Reacher, as three episodes are set to drop tomorrow (Thursday, 20th February), with the series rolling out on a weekly basis until the ground-shaking season finale.

Reacher season 3 premieres Thursday, 20th February on Prime Video. TV lovers can get 30 days' free access to binge tantalising TV like The Boys and The Rings of Power by signing up to Amazon Prime. Just remember to cancel at the end and you won't be charged.
