The area around Parliament was closed after a suspicious package was found near the House of Lords. The Metropolitan Police confirmed there was a suspicious package, forcing all roads in the area to be closed. It was reportedly found in Victoria Gardens, near the House of Lords.

The College Green was also cleared by police. Now the incident has been ‘stood down’ after the package was ‘confirmed to be non-suspicious,’ the force told Metro. The Metropolitan Police said earlier: ‘On Thursday, 27 February police were called to Victoria Tower Gardens, SW1 at 11:37hrs following reports of suspicious package.

‘Officers are currently on scene and are carrying out enquiries. ‘Road closures are in place.’. The A3212 Millbank was closed in both directions between Lambeth Bridge and Parliament Square, an Inrix traffic alert shows. It reopened shortly before 1pm.
