Strictly Come Dancing winner Jay McGuiness has admitted his mother Maureen kept his Glitterball trophy in her toilet. The Wanted singer, 34, won the BBC dancing competition in 2015 with his professional partner, Aliona Vilani. He beat Coronation Street actor Georgia May Foote and EastEnders star Kellie Bright in the series 13 final.

The boy band star confessed that his mother decided to store his trophy in her downstairs toilet, calling it a “shell shock of a place” to display the award. “Are you the Jay whose mum kept your Strictly Glitterball trophy in her toilet?” Borg asked the singer.

“Bingo. And she's listening now. Hello, Maureen,” McGuiness replied, adding that it has since been moved to the “spare bedroom.”. “Does that mean it has been relegated or promoted from the downstairs toilet to the spare bedroom?” Borg wanted to know.

“Definitely promoted. That was a shell shock of a place for it to rest,” McGuiness noted. Steps singer Lee Latchford-Evans, who was also in the interview, joked: “I'd like to think it wasn't actually in the toilet.”. “No, no, no, no,” McGuiness stressed. “About one foot above it.”.

Borg then shared another unusual fact about the singer by asking: “Are you the Jay who discovered the Wanted by googling auditions and getting two results - one for the circus and another for the band, The Wanted?”. When McGuiness confirmed the statement, Borg asked: “How close to joining the circus were you?”.
