Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden had a day to remember as she was honoured by King Charles at Buckingham Palace, but it wasn't without a red-faced moment, as she revealed on ITV's Lorraine. Amy who is from Wales, was made an honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of her relentless efforts to fundraise and increase awareness for inflammatory bowel disease.

The Strictly star, 34, who was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at 19, opened up to ITV host Christine Lampard - who is filling in for Lorraine Kelly - about her past struggles, admitting she'd never had "anyone to look up to in the public eye," who battled the same condition, which drove her to become advocate for many charities.

Following her Royal encounter, Amy, donning a gorgeous silk purple dress and coordinating hat, stepped outside Buckingham Palace to celebrate with loved ones. However, while posing for a photo taken by her Strictly colleague Carlos Gu, she experienced a slip-up when her medal dropped out of its box onto the ground, reports Wales Online.

Carlos captured the blunder and shared it with his 73k Instagram fans. Reflecting on the day with Christine, Amy couldn't help but laugh and cringe as she remembered the blush-inducing incident. Christine playfully remarked: "Carlos said on his Instagram that hopefully you'll bring your medal out on tour with you, however we're being led to believe that you can't be trusted.".

Amy couldn't help but blush as the host prompted: "Can you please explain this photograph to us?" while Carlos's posted snap popped up, showing a baffled Amy holding an empty box. The BBC One celebrity, still sporting a smile, recounted: "So Carlos took that he was like 'show me the medal' I opened the box and it fell out and as you can see by my face I was like 'ohhh my medal'.".

Amy, slightly red faced, confirmed with a laugh: "Yes very embarrassed," but quickly assured viewers, "It's safe, it's in the box." Host Christine let out a laugh hersel, adding: "Of course he was there to capture the moment Amy.". "Of course, and of course he posted it and shared it on social media," chuckled Amy which led Christine to quip back humorously, "Of course he did, that's what friends are for.".
