Tammy Abraham admitted being booed by the Roma fans after scoring twice against them for AC Milan hurt him. The ex-Chelsea striker, who left the Premier League outfit and moved to Roma when Jose Mourinho was in charge, is now playing his football at the San Siro. Abraham has been allowed to leave the Rome outfit for the season and ply his trade with Milan. His current club and his parent club faced off in the Coppa Italia with Abraham helping to settle the contest. The Englishman scored twice in the first-half to put Milan in control as they eventually went on to secure a 3-1 victory.

It was a tough night personally for the striker as the fans who used to cheer him now began booing him. Abraham chose not to celebrate his strikes as a mark of respect but accepted the animosity and the hostility are just part of the game. He said: “The boos from the Roma fans hurt me, because everyone knows what Roma meant to me. I didn’t celebrate when I scored. But that’s okay, that’s football.”.

Abraham, whose goals helped Milan make the Coppa Italia semi-final as they eye their first success in the tournament since 2003, also added: “I am very happy with the victory. We deserved it. But now we have to rest and be ready for Empoli.”. The ex-Blue previously opened up on his decision to temporarily leave the Stadio Olympico with his comments perhaps not being well received by the Roma fanbase. He said: “It’s not that I lost confidence at all, but the fans know how important Roma is to me, but sometimes in life there are cases where you have to go to the next level, set the bar higher, and I thought this was the right opportunity.”.

Milan's success owed a lot to former and current Chelsea players with Joao Felix, who made a deadline day loan move from the Blues just months after joining the club for £45million, coming off the bench to score the decisive third goal. man came off the bench to replace Christian Pulisic, another former Chelsea player. He was also joined on the pitch by ex-Manchester City star Kyle Walker, who left the Premier League champions to pursue a new challenge in Italy after a difficult few months.
