A teacher who sexually abused a pupil and told him to bring a gun “to shoot” a colleague has been jailed. Imagine Kay Ewer, 28, from Colorado, introduced fentanyl to the 16-year-old special needs student, as well as sending “thousands upon thousands upon thousands” of text messages, asking him to bring a gun to their sexual encounters. And prosecutor Brynn Chase said that Ewer even told the victim “to bring the gun to school and shoot another faculty member in the leg”, it was revealed in a statement from the District Attorney’s Office.

Ewer pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the student she was looking after at Brady Exploration School in Lakewood. She accepted sexually assaulting a child in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The defendant was sentenced to four years in jail and after she will be put on a sex offenders’ programme for 10 years to life. During the sentencing, the victim’s mother told the court how Ewer had “manipulated” her son.

She said: “The defendant preyed on my son, leading him to believe she genuinely cared for him, all while exploiting him for money and manipulating him into thinking he was ‘the one’.” The mother added: “What makes this even more painful is that I trusted the defendant. Had I known what was truly happening, I would never have allowed her such close access to him.”. Ewer's crimes came to light in November 2023, when another teacher at the school saw “inappropriate writing” on a piece of work by the student and they called the police, said the District Attorney’s Office. An investigation was launched by the police where it was revealed that staff noticed "Ewer's favouritism" towards the child immediately. In the probe, evidence was also found of inappropriate behaviour which is believed to have started around September, 2023, reported People.com.

Detectives discovered “evidence of frequent sexual encounters, constant digital communication, inclusive of repeated derogatory remarks directed at the victim, and the introduction of drugs, alcohol, and weapons,” said the statement from the District Attorney's Office. At her sentencing, Ewer said, “I just want to apologize to the victim and the victim’s family. I’m really sorry; this will never happen again.”.
