Apple TV is set to unveil a romance film with a twist this Valentine's Day. Directed by Scott Derrickson, known for Marvel's Doctor Strange, The Gorge sees a love story bloom amidst an action-packed plot. The film follows two agents who are tasked with guarding opposite ends of a mysterious canyon. In the recently-released trailer, one of the characters describes the titular gorge, saying "The Gorge is the door to hell and we're standing guard at the gate.".
Although they are working on the same mission, the pair are forbidden from communicating with each other and the outside world. But how exactly does the story unfold, and who is in its star-studded cast? Here is the lowdown. The Gorge sees a pair of highly-trained snipers assigned with guarding opposite ends of a classified space named the gorge, for one year. Although they are banned from talking to each other, the duo find ways to communicate and build a friendship from a distance. A clip from the trailer shows the pair playing a game of chess using binoculars to see each other's boards, and talking through placards.
When they eventually learn about the gorge's threat to humanity, the agents are forced to work together to find a solution. Apple TV's full synopsis reads: "Two highly-trained operatives are appointed to posts in guard towers on opposite sides of a vast and highly classified gorge, protecting the world from an undisclosed, mysterious evil that lurks within. "They bond from a distance while trying to stay vigilant in defending against an unseen enemy. When the cataclysmic threat to humanity is revealed to them, they must work together in a test of both their physical and mental strength to keep the secret in the gorge before it’s too late.".
The Gorge will be available to stream globally from Friday, February 14, on Apple TV+. Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller lead the cast of this mystery thriller. The film stars are no strangers to the action genre, with Taylor-Joy recently starring in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Teller leading the cast in Top Gun: Maverick. The rest of the ensemble includes Oscar-nominated sci-fi icon Sigourney Weaver and Gangs of London's Sope Dirisu.
