WHEN it comes to Easter, there are few chocolates more iconic than Cadbury's Creme Egg. But the sweet treats - consisting of a chocolate casing with fondant centre - can also be on the pricey side, retailing for around 85p each in most supermarkets. So it's little wonder that one shopper headed into Aldi TWICE, after spotting an epic deal on the eggs.

Will took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook to share the incredible buy, sharing a snap of the eggs on the shelf inside the store. "Run!! Don't walk to Aldi!" he began. Will added that he initially picked up three boxes of the chocolates, which had been reduced down from £2.95 to £1.49 for five, but when he got back to the car, he "realised they were too cheap".

So he went back inside, and grabbed two more. "5 pack for £1.49!" he marvelled. Meanwhile, someone in the comments section revealed that the offer on the multipacks will be running until March 2nd - as long as stocks last. "I got 18 boxes - favours towards a baby shower this weekend," one person commented on Will's post.

As another tagged a friend and pleaded: "If u go Aldi and they have them grab me a couple of these please.". "Get yourself to Aldi," someone else urged. While another wrote: "Bl**dy hell - will be going to Aldi from now on!". The Sun Online recently revealed how Cadbury has shrunk the number of Creme Eggs in its larger multipacks and increased the price - leading to the cost of each egg doubling.

Last year, the choc-maker made 10-packs of Creme Eggs, which sold for £3 in Tesco with a Clubcard, or £4.95 full price, but the new eight-packs are £5.50, or £4.75 with a Clubcard. It means that with a loyalty card each egg now costs 59p when bought in the packs, rather than last year’s promotional price of 30p.

IF you’ve ever shopped in Aldi or Lidl then you’ll probably have experienced its ultra-fast checkout staff. Aldi’s speedy reputation is no mistake, in fact, the supermarket claims that its tills are 40 per cent quicker than rivals. It’s all part of Aldi’s plan to be as efficient as possible - and this, the budget shop claims, helps keep costs low for shoppers.

Efficient barcodes on packaging means staff are able to scan items as quickly as possible, with the majority of products having multiple barcodes to speed up the process. It also uses “shelf-ready” packaging which keeps costs low when it comes to replenishing stock.

The change to eight-packs was spotted by a user on hotukdeals.com, who said: “The prices are ridiculous… shrinkflation”. Cadbury owner Mondelez International said it was facing higher prices across its supply chain and promised they only make changes to product sizes as a “last resort”.
