Tyson Fury is set to make some 'serious announcements' having hung up his gloves last month. The news comes just a few weeks after the 'Gypsy King' confirmed his shock retirement from the sport of boxing. "Hi everybody, I'm going to make this short and sweet," he said to the camera. "I'd like to announce my retirement from boxing. It's been a blast, I've loved every single minute of it. I'm going to end with this. Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side. Get up!".
Fury hung up the gloves following back-to-back defeats to long-time rival Oleksandr Usyk. The 36-year-old has since been enjoying life outside of the ring and has been spending a lot more quality time with his loved ones. The Brit recently took his family to Disneyland Paris for a getaway. The 'Gypsy King', his wife Paris, and their seven children spent a few days at the park, enjoying the the rides and attractions.
Recently, Queensberry promoter Frank Warren discussed his former star client's future. It remains to be seen whether or not Fury will box again, but Warren was eager to offer his verdict on the topic. Speaking on the Seconds Out YouTube channel, he said: "Didn't even discuss it with him," the 72-year-old said of the Brit returning to the ring. He later added: "He's enjoying himself. He's had a hard, hard year last year. Tough fights, three training camps... tough times. Missed his family, missed his kids.".
Warren revealed he wouldn't encourage Fury to fight again before adding that the former world champion is set to reveal a big announcement. "I wouldn’t encourage him to fight again," he continued. But if he does fight again, who knows, he may do it again. If he does that’s up to him. What I know he’s going to be doing is making some serious announcements about things he is doing outside of the ring that are exciting. I’m not going to say what they are, but they are bloody exciting. Everybody’s going to love it.".
Despite remaining adamant that he'll not be returning to the ring, Fury's former rival Derek Chisora has backed the Brit to take on Anthony Joshua. Speaking after his win over Otto Wallin last weekend, 'Del Boy' said: "Who knows? Right now AJ is healing himself after the defeat from Daniel Dubois. He's not ready yet. When he's ready he'll come back and I think he'll come back - not to fight me but to fight the 'Gypsy King'. I'll let the public decide [who next]. I'll let you guys decide.".
Following his recent loss to Usyk, boxing legend Amir Khan believes Fury will be mentally affected. "It’ll be a good, close fight. I think it will go the distance, but it will be good to see because both fighters are at a good level," he told Betway regarding a potential Joshua vs Fury showdown. "Anthony Joshua has had some good wins (before Daniel Dubois) and looked really good and revived. Then you look at Tyson Fury. He has to be in that type of position to make it a close fight with Anthony Joshua. If Fury is still at the top and has all of the confidence, then I think Fury wins that fight all day long. But with the last two fights, it’s even and is a 50/50 fight now.
"Mentally, Fury may have been really impacted and that’s normal. I’m not talking bad about him but it’s normal and happened to me. When I had that fight loss against Lamont Peterson, mentally I was done. Even though I knew I was a better fighter than Danny Garcia, he beat me and knocked me out. I was outboxing him and destroying him but it’s life. I feel Fury needs to come back and have one or two fights and then take the AJ fight. But knowing Fury with the b**** he has got, he will want to jump straight into that fight which would be very hard.".
