Benson Boone is the latest touring artist to try out the notorious Australian shoey drinking game. The 22-year-old hitmaker was on stage at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on Monday when he took a break between tunes to participate in the 'tradition'. Audience members erupted in cheers and groans as they watched the star drink from a large cowboy boot that had been passed to him by a fan.

The 22-year-old hitmaker was on stage at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on Monday when he took a break between tunes to take part in the 'tradition'. He then got down on one knee and was about to drink when he noticed something in the boot. 'You've got food in your shoe,' he told the boot's owner.

After taking the water down in one swallow Benson joked: 'Not bad.'. However, many fans commenting on the share were left unimpressed. 'I was there & cringed,' complained one fan. 'As a culture, we need to retire the shoey, please.'. Added another user, 'I was there last night too. I cringed.'.
