Manchester United, Tottenham and Rangers will learn their Europa League fate this week in the round of 16 draw. The trio safely navigated their way through the first phase of the competition, earning automatic qualification for the knockout phase to swerve the play-offs which will conclude this week. United and Tottenham are both enduring miserable Premier League campaigns with winning this competition their only hope of qualifying for the Champions League next term.

Europe has provided some comfort for the two English sides this season, finishing third and fourth respectively in the initial league phase behind Lazio and Athletic Club. Rangers left it to the final day to book their place in the top eight, with a 2-1 win over Union St.Gilloise securing their place. Here is everything you need to know about the Europa League draw, including what time it starts and how to watch on TV in the UK.

The Europa League last 16 draw takes place on Friday 21 February from 12pm, immediately following the Champions League draw. The ceremony will be available to watch live in the UK on TNT Sports 1 and available to stream on the Discovery+ app and the TNT Sports YouTube channel. Lazio, Athletic Bilbao, Manchester United, Tottenham, Eintracht Frankfurt, Lyon, Olympiacos and Rangers qualified automatically for the next phase and will be joined by the eight winners of the two-legged play-off ties with those second leg ties taking place on Thursday.

For the knock-out phase going forward, teams will be placed in a bracket with their path to the quarter-finals and semi-finals to become a little clearer on Friday. Teams that finished first and second in the league phase will face the winners of the knockout phase play-off ties involving the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th-placed teams in the round of 16. Teams that finish third (United) and fourth (Tottenham) will be drawn against the winners of the knockout phase play-off ties involving the 13th, 14th, 19th and 20th-placed teams.

Real Sociedad, Galatasaray, AZ Alkmaar or FC Midtylland await Ruben Amorim’s side. AZ Alkmaar have one foot in the last 16 after beating Galatasaray 4-1 in their first leg last week. Real Sociedad lead FC Midtjylland at the half-way point. Ange Postecoglou’s side face the same list of possible opponents in Real Sociedad, Galatasaray, AZ Alkmaar or FC Midtylland. First legs will fall on 6 March with second-leg ties the following week.
