The biggest night in American sport is just around the corner as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Last year saw the championship held in Las Vegas for the first time ever, with the Chiefs defending their title in a thrilling overtime victory against the San Francisco 49ers. This year, the action shifts to New Orleans, which will be hosting the event for an impressive 11th time in NFL history. The Caesars Superdome, set to host its eighth championship game – the most of any NFL stadium – will serve as the backdrop for Super Bowl LIX.

Sadly for local supporters, the New Orleans Saints won't be taking part; instead, it will be NFC champions Philadelphia Eagles and the Chiefs who go in search of an unprecedented three-peat. Much like the New England Patriots with Tom Brady at the helm, the Chiefs have clinched back-to-back championships with Patrick Mahomes leading the charge. No team has ever secured three consecutive titles in the Super Bowl era, and the Eagles now stands between Andy Reid's squad and history.

The Super Bowl is scheduled to kick off at 6.30pm local time, meaning that those in the UK will need to tune in from around 11.30pm. And with an extended half-time show, the action could go on until around 4am...a late one!. The showpiece in New Orleans will be on free-to-air television for UK viewers with ITV holding the rights. Their coverage begins at 10.45pm, with the action also being streamed on itvX.

Sky Sports will also have live coverage of the game across their channels and Sky Go. Their broadcast kicks off at the earlier time of 10pm. Grammy Award winner Kendrick Lamar will headline the famous half-time show. Fresh off winning five awards, including best song for his hit 'Not Like Us'. That track - the final instalment of a battle with Canadian rapper Drake - would likely be the highlight of the performance, although he hasn't explicitly confirmed whether he will perform the track.
