If you want to do it all on the cheap, you can also find our latest batch of exclusive hand-picked offers in partnership with Time Out here. By Martina Andretta. In case you haven’t noticed, Thai food is hot in London right now – pun intended. The era of watery, bland curries is well and truly over, the Big Smoke is ready for Thai spices. Kolae is by the same team behind the successful Spitalfields joint Som Saa, which was at the top of our hype-busting list.

Seafood is a key element of Southern Thai food. For this reason, I tested a pescatarian selection (but there is plenty for meat-loving readers too). Begin with the biryani rice crackers, a deceptively unassuming starter that exceeded expectations with its satisfying texture. The spice punch comes early in the shape of white crab, prawn, samphire and kee nu chilli bites (I had to take a break to compose myself).

The succulent kolae tiger prawns with a zesty burst of calamansi lime is the true star. Simply presented, dressed in a sweet coconut marinade, and grilled over open flames, these are a regular on the regularly shifting menu (no surprise). Honourable mention for the cocktails: Kolae’s Golden Hour, a bourbon-based drink with hints of honey, grapefruit and banana, is dangerously delicious. As for the service – it started well, with a knowledgeable walk-through of the menu, but turned chaotic later in the night with some mishaps (though the team was prompt to correct and apologise).

Still, with its affordable pricing and exciting selection of plates, I look forward to visiting Kolae again. Smaller plates from £5; larger plates from £8. 6 Park Street, Borough, SE1 9AB. Book here. By Anushka Suharu. Rockwell Bistro & Wine Bar is the ultimate spot for a cosy yet indulgent Valentine’s date. Tucked inside Trafalgar St. James hotel, its plush seating, rich colour palette, and softly glowing ambience create the perfect romantic backdrop. Sip on expertly curated wines while sharing deli-style plates and creative small bites – we’re loving the sweet and savoury potato terrine, which pairs beautifully with irresistibly creamy ham croquetas and melt-in-your-mouth beef bao buns.

For Valentine’s Day, they’re offering a Set Menu for Two, with the chance for one lucky guest to uncover a hidden ‘Love Card’ and win a luxurious overnight stay at the Trafalgar St. James Hotel in 2025. Whether it’s your first Valentine’s together or one of many, this chic hideaway will make it unforgettable. Small plates from £5; Valentine’s Day Set Menu for Two, £72. 2 Spring Gardens, Trafalgar St. James hotel, SW1A 2TS. Book here.

A post shared by CAMINO (@caminolondon). Much loved Spanish tapas spot Camino has two brand new branches. The first opened in Farringdon in January, and the second opens in Victoria’s Zig Zag Building in early March. Both sites will also see extended wine lists showcasing wines from notable bodegas!. Gordon Ramsay is taking over the top three floors of sky high 22 Bishopsgate, with three new restaurants, a must-visit bar and a Gordon Ramsay x Hexclad academy.

For undoubtedly beautiful views of the London skyline, including Tower Bridge, The Shard and St Paul’s Cathedral, you’ll be in the perfect place. Look out for our Slice review to hear our verdict!. By Sophie Laughton. When you think of romance, Canary Wharf isn’t the first place that springs to mind. But for major brownie points from your partner – or an easy journey from your Canary Wharf office – Marceline is the one. Housed in a gleaming glass box floating in the centre of Wood Wharf, this Parisian-style brasserie isn’t reinventing the wheel with its menu of French classics, but it’s exactly what you want from a romantic dinner for two: an ice-filled platter of ultra fresh oysters, steak frites; and a creamy choux dessert so indulgent it must be shared between two spoons.
