AI communique did not reflect UK’s stance on ‘opportunity and security’ – No10 The UK did not sign a leaders’ declaration at the climax of the AI Action Summit in Paris because it does not reflect the Government’s position on “opportunity and security” for the technology, Downing Street has said.
Downing Street denied the move was related to reports that the US had questioned the declaration’s wording, which is said to include references to “sustainable and inclusive AI”.
Britain declined to back the joint communique because it had concerns about the level of “practical clarity” it offered on global governance of artificial intelligence, Number 10 said.
“We didn’t sign the declaration because it did not reflect the UK’s policy positions on opportunity and security.”.
