Yet one of his lesser known feats came back in 1993 when he hit 240 with just three darts. Regular scoring dictates that the highest score a player can achieve in one visit is 180 - three treble 20s. However, at the 1993 UK Matchplay in Chesterfield, a special "Quadro" board was introduced.

The difference was an extra ring was located between the bullseye and the treble ring which allowed players to score quadruples. This meant Taylor and opponent Jockey Wilson could hit 240 with three quadruple 20s - something the darts icon managed with expert precision.
The commentator was left in awe as the announcer screamed "240" and the crowd applauded in amazement. The "Quadro" board was discontinued in 2000 and has not returned in a professional event.
