Amazon Prime has finally added what's been hailed as 'one of the best films of last year', featuring 'Oscar worthy performances' from its leading actors. The Order is now exclusively available for subscribers to enjoy at home, starting today (February 6). This follows a limited cinema release late last year, which garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. Despite only having a brief stint on the big screens in the US and UK, it managed to secure an impressive 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film, based on a true story, was directed by Justin Kurzel, known for his work on a version of Macbeth starring Michael Fassbender and the film adaptation of the video game franchise Assassin's Creed. The plot revolves around a series of violent robberies in the Pacific Northwest that lead veteran FBI agent Terry Husk, portrayed by Jude Law, to a white supremacist group led by Bob Mathews, played by Nicholas Hoult. As they amass cash to fund their operations, they work towards executing their sinister plans to overthrow the federal government, reports Surrey Live.
Nicholas Hoult and Jude Law's portrayals of real-life figures in their latest film have garnered immense acclaim, with some fans even losing track of the actors' true roots. One viewer was taken aback: "Midway through the movie, I suddenly remembered Jude Law is British-he's so convincing in this role. His performance, along with the rest of the cast, was excellent. Nicholas Hoult, in particular, was a standout. I couldn't have imagined him as a cult leader, having mostly seen him in quirky or sci-fi roles, but this film showcased his range brilliantly.".
TV lovers can get 30 days' free access to binge tantalising TV like The Boys and The Rings of Power by signing up to Amazon Prime. Just remember to cancel at the end and you won't be charged. Another fan praised the film highly: "That is one of the best films I've seen this year. Jude Law was outstanding, take a bow you handsome bugger. Truly terrifying storyline and subject matter that was superbly portrayed by the excellent cast.".
The performances were so compelling that one individual felt they deserved more recognition: "Jude Law is outstanding or Oscar worthy and so is the excellent supporting cast, alongside the director and gorgeous cinematography that juxtapose an intense and upsetting true crime story set in 1983 about a veteran FBI agent who hunts down the delusional radicals of a white supremacist group that formed." And another simply stated: "The best film of the year, Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult are a tour de force.".
Critics have showered the film's nail-biting action with praises, stacking it up against cinematic heavyweights like Heat and Serpico. One critique waxed lyrical, stating: "Structured like a rural, small-town Heat, the action is drum-tight and though there are a couple of clichéd moments, the performances are superb, with a moustachioed Law digging deep and Hoult chilling as an infamy seeking zealot in the making.".
