ANALYSIS: Hapless Aberdeen provide the perfect pick-me-up for Rangers as Ibrox ire in the stands is soothed by a stroll to victory

The main thing which has sustained Philippe Clement at Rangers this season has been the comfort of home. Just one blip at Ibrox, a home draw to Dundee United, ensured the Belgian actually approached this assignment with an identical record to Celtic in Glasgow.
If only he could have addressed an appalling run on the road, hopes of the title wouldn’t have vanished along with the Christmas decorations. The threat to such consistency in Govan no longer just comes from other Premiership sides. It lurks in the rumblings of discontent and in acts of protest in the stands. Players are only human. They’re not impervious to negativity.
In that respect, Clement would have been pleased that the unity he’d called for was there last night. Back in place after their walk-out on Sunday, the Union Bears offered their vocal backing. There was no trace of cordite in the air. Hamza Igamane (right) celebrates scoring to make it 1-0 to Rangers with Clinton Nsiala.
Igamane has a shot blocked but it didn't take long for the Rangers striker to grab his goal. That translated into a composed and purposeful start by Clement’s players. They were aided by an Aberdeen side which looked devoid of confidence on the back of an 11 going on 12 game winless run.
Sivert Nilsen’s catastrophic early error typified their recent travails. Hamza Igamane’s finish was that of a striker who believes everything he hits right now will find the netting. In Clinton Nsiala, Rangers had a young player light on experience at the heart of their defence. As impressive as the Frenchman was on the ball, the Dons didn’t test him nearly enough.
