Ange Postecoglou defends Tottenham players after Nottingham Forest loss - 'Only logical'

Ange Postecoglou admitted it is "only logical" that Tottenham's players will experience a drop off after they were beaten by Nottingham Forest. This season's surprise package secured another statement win as they beat the north Londoners at the City Ground. It completes a miserable few days for the team from the capital, who conceded six when they were beaten at home by Liverpool on Sunday.
Postecoglou's team have continued to be immensely inconsistent, winning at both Manchester clubs but losing other very winnable games. The Australian has often pointed to their injury list as a major reason behind their up and down results. The majority of their backline is currently sidelined which has left the same players continuously playing. The Tottenham boss has come under pressure following some damaging defeats but highlighted the workload he's having to put his players through.
Postecoglou said: “We are asking a lot of this group of players, a lot of these guys are playing every three days. It's only logical they are not going to be at their sharpest but they are trying. It's obviously disappointing to be beat, tight game, it was never going to be a game with too many chances.
“We tried to generate as many opportunities as we could and Forest played well, we just couldn’t get over the line. I still thought we created some good moments and we weren’t able to capitalise on them, the keeper has pulled off some good saves to keep them in the game. We needed a goal to break them open and we didn’t seem to get it.”.
