Ange Postecoglou 'never been angrier' after Tottenham fall to controversial Newcastle defeat

Ange Postecoglou said he had never been angrier and insisted Tottenham would have beaten Newcastle on "an even and fair playing ground" after Anthony Gordon's controversial equaliser helped the Magpies to a 2-1 win in north London on Saturday. Gordon's strike cancelled out Dominic Solanke's fourth-minute opener after Newcastle won possession when Lucas Bergvall's pass struck Joelinton's hand.
There was a VAR check on the goal but Joelinton's hand was judged to be in a 'natural' position, incensing Postecoglou. Alexander Isak scored a second before the break to leave depleted Spurs, who were missing 10 first-team players to injury, illness or suspension, without a win in six straight home matches.
"Hugely proud, I’m shattered the boys didn’t get the rewards they deserved because we were outstanding, our football was outstanding against a very good opponent in good form and a good place," Postecoglou said afterwards. "I thought it was brilliant and outstanding, a game we deserved to win and on any other day we would have won.
"I know what everyone wants me to say, but all I'll say is that on any other day, on a fair and even playing ground, we would have won that game. Simple as that. "Don't keep asking me about the [handball] decision. If you guys [the media] have no opinion about it, that's fine. I know what my opinion is and, as I said, if that was a different day and it was an even and fair playing ground we would have won that game.
