Antiques Roadshow guests gobsmacked by true value of old teddy bear Antiques Roadshow viewers were gobsmacked after learning the enormous value of a tattered and torn old teddy bear.
Speaking to the woman who had brought the bear to the Botanic Gardens, Marc explained: "I've been working in the world of antiques for some 36 years and I've handled many amazing items in that time, but I have never handled a black Steiff bear like this.
Marc immediately recognised Teddy as being a Steiff bear just from his shape, but noted that the iconic button in his ear was missing, and he had a broken shoulder after years of play.
On last night's show, filmed in Belfast, expert Marc Allum was presented with a delicate example of a very rare "mourning bear" which had ties to the Northern Irish capital.
He added:"'Edward himself was part of what I would call a strict convention of mourning and he would've been treated with reverence and respect for the many people touched by the great tragedy of the event.'.
