Arne Slot makes incredible Liverpool claim after Nottingham Forest frustration

Arne Slot saluted his table-topping side after a Diogo Jota equaliser at the City Ground kept them six points clear at the top of the Premier League - insisting they dominated the game from start to finish. “I could not have asked for more,” declared Slot after heroics from home keeper Matz Sels denied Liverpool a late winner.
“The second half was outstanding. There are not many teams that can create so many chances against an opponent so defensively strong. “Their goalkeeper had to make a few incredible saves but their defenders also made some good blocks with quite a few chances. They blocked almost every shot.
“At times, it was one chance after another, although sometimes it took a long time for the restart. We conceded only one counter-attack. It is not the result we wanted but the players gave it all they have got. “We totally controlled and dominated the game for 97 minutes. We played some outstanding football.”.
Jota’s 66th minute header cancelled out Chris Wood’s first half opener - his 13th Premier League goal of the season - and Sels then made a string of fine saves to preserve a point for Forest. “Matz Sels was huge for us,” declared Nuno Espirito Santo. “We are very proud. He is in a good moment. He has been able to keep us in games many times now, that shows how good he is.”.
And the Forest manager believes the occasion showed how his team - who are now up to second place - continue to improve. He said: “We have to be fair. Liverpool are very good - they had some good chances and are an amazing team. Being able to compete and challenge against them shows that we want to progress and continue.".
